My husband John and I met on your site in 2010 and married in 2013.  

By the time I was 44, I had experienced several long-term relationships, but never marriage. I truly wanted that life-long commitment. Before John, my prior relationship was with a man I met the first time I was on Greensingles. After nearly 3 years, it ended amicably. When I was ready to date again, I returned to your site because I knew this was where I would find the best mate for me. And I did! 

Months before returning to your site, I made a list of what I wanted in a mate and as I read through John’s thoughtful profile, I mentally checked off all the things on my ideal mate list. John was my list! (Coincidentally, he had also made a list around the time I had made mine, and I was his list, too!). The fact that he was a widower with 2 young sons didn’t scare me. All I knew was that his profile spoke to me and I felt a connection. We exchanged many long emails and quickly set a first date that lasted 4 hours. 2 ½ years later, we were married. 

Our partnership hasn’t always been easy, but one thing we are proud of is that we talk thoughtfully and respectfully about everything and have no secrets. I am a better person as a result of having him in my life. 

As a result of our union, I gained 2 beautiful sons, John’s family, and his late wife’s family, all of whom have made my life full. He was well worth the wait and I am so glad to have found someone who values the same things I do. Finding someone like John who shares my values about the planet, politics, self-improvement, and how to have fun would have been challenging on those bigger dating sites.

We are now empty nesters and are relishing our alone time. We didn’t have that when we first met since I was airdropped into this family. Several years ago we bought a lakefront property in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Our favorite thing to do is to sit at the end of the dock, hold hands, drink a glass of wine, and experience nature, the birds, and the gorgeous sunsets. We are both so grateful to have found each other.
