More Depth
Describe yourself (personality/attitude/passions/beliefs):
An optimistic life-long learner who values the present, I look enthusiastically to the future. I am an introvert who also loves being with people. I’ve just begun to study and reflect on the teachings of the Christian mystics. I admire Parker Palmer, Thomas Merton, Wendall Barry, James Finley, John O'Donahue. I collect poetry that is meaningful to me. MBT: INFJ. I am a retired interfaith chaplain with a dynamic and practical spirituality. I feel strongly that my life belongs not only to my family and friends but also to the wider community; I feel its a privilege to do whatever I can, and give whatever I am able, to promote what’s Good.
What do you like to do for fun/activities?
Sharing meals with friends, reading, movies, concerts, gardening, genealogy, Scrabble. Exploring via weekend get-a-ways, road trips; I have a class B RV. Being in nature, listening to music, NPR and sometimes watching PTV. I’m somewhat of an armchair philosopher who enjoys exploring ideas.
What does being *conscious* mean to you?
Seeing; listening; feeling. Being open, experiencing what is present, being true-blue, being courageous. Being curious, willing to learn. Seeking what is Holy & what is Divine within me, within others, in the environment, and in circumstances.
Is there anything else you'd like to share?
The poet speaks these words to you for me: "Don't think that the great love which was once granted to you, when you were a boy, has been lost; how can you know whether vast and generous wishes didn't ripen in you at that time, and purposes by which you are still living today? I believe that that love remains strong and intense in your memory . . . “
We have all the time in the world. If you are willing to ‘go slow’ enough to fully experience the unfolding of intimacy grounded in friendship; if you, with me, will deliberately take plenty of time to form the best relationship of our lives, one that is 'built to last' this time, . . . if you are willing to take the time to invest in growth, friendship, and love, I would like to meet you, I would like to get to know you.
What makes you smile?
Conversation, autumn, flowers, the gloaming, wood stoves, stars, Northern Lights, mountains, creeks, warm bread, pie, tea, open windows, warm baths, reading aloud, jeans, the innocence of children, hugs, smiles, old dogs, much more . . .
